Grocery Shopping

This is quite possibly the dorkiest blog that I have ever posted. It will let you all in on a little secret of mine...I LOVE COUPONS. I can't help it. It's addicting. I love organizing all of my coupons and cutting them out when I am ready to use them, and I love handing a big stack of them over to the cashier, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE watching the price go down.

Tonight I took Keith and the kids and headed to Smiths. We needed something to do and that was our excitement for the evening...sad, I know! I was a little worried about Keith being with me while I shopped, but he didn't good and didn't say a word about anything I put in the cart. He was also a HUGE help with the kids! Gav got a little cart and got to push that all over the store and he thought that was great!

Anywho, after completing my list we headed to the checkstand. The kid scanned everything and Keith made a comment about the price going up...I mentioned that I hadn't given the cashier my coupons yet. It totaled out at $127.13. Keith was still a good sport and didn't say anything. Well after my Fresh Values card was scanned that took off $52.81 and then with my big fat stack of coupons it took off another $25.35 leaving me with a bill of $48.97!!! That is a savings of 62%! The lady behind me was watching us intently and I said, "My husband doesn't believe I know what I'm doing." When she saw that price go down she had a really shocked look on her face and said, "Man you do know what you're doing!" I know I'm a dork, but that kinda made my night. Keith's surprised look sure helped too :)

So to dorky this post up even further...here is a picture of my stash :) It's not a great pictutre because you can't really get a feel for all the stuff hiding in the back, but it'll do. Oh yea, and it's minus the $1.69 I had to spring for a new Pez...but that's nothing new! And yes, I know that's a lot of ice cream, but we have birthday coming up to use it for and you can't beat the good stuff for only $1.49! Dang, 1.5 quarts of ice cream cost me less than the Pez! Will someone please find me some Pez coupons????

January stuff...

Now that it's February I probably better post about January! We really didn't do a lot that I can think of...yucky weather and not wanting to take the kids out kept us inside a lot. This meant I had to get creative for things to do! One Sunday at Church my best pal Nancy played Play-doh with Gav during sacrament meeting. (She's brave...not only for playing Play-doh during church, but letting Gav sit with her!) She gave Gavin 2 little containers of it and it's been his favorite thing! I got crafty and made some homemade play-doh and that has been a lot of fun for Gavin. He is so cute with the things he comes up with to make!

Max is getting bigger and bigger and he has to be the smiliest kid ever! I used to have to work so hard to get Gavin to smile and Max just smiles at everything! I love it! He seems to be settling down from his colic and is fairly content most of the time.

Brittani came to visit one night with Kenna and Paisley. We sure had a lot of fun! I love the picture of Gav, Max and Kenna. Paisley was sleeping so she's not in it.

Keith started his new job on February 1st. He is now an assistant manager for Wal-Mart. I know...big change, huh? So far I think he is really enjoying it. He has 8 weeks of training at a store in West Valley and then he will be at the Sandy store. His schedule will definitely be different, but I think I am going to like it. He works 12 hour shifts, 3 days on and then 3 days off. And get this...it's day shifts! He'll end up working some holidays and Sundays, but it will be nice to have him home during the week sometimes. I am really looking forward to camping this year...no more packing just for 1 night, leaving late Friday and coming home Saturday! It's going to be a lot of fun with the boys! Now maybe I will feel better about spending money for the trailer!

I have been busy with my photography and doing lots of little crafts around the house. I never realized I was into that, but I have had a lot of fun. I also started taking a cake decorating class and I am LOVING it. To be honest we really haven't done anything, but I can't wait to get started. I was a little worried because I am not very artistic, but I think this is something I can do.

Cute pictures

I did finally notice there was a blog app on my iPod. Maybe now it will be easier to blog because I can do it one handed :) these cute pictures came from my mom and just thought I would share! Not sure how they will look on the actual computer since I am uploading them from here but we will give it a shot! Thanks for these Mom!

2 months (a little late!)

Well, 2 kids has definitely slowed down my blogging. If my iPod had an app for blogging I would probably do better at it, but it's a pain to come downstairs to my computer...and this room is so messy I can't stand to be in it!

Max is doing well. He had his 2 month check up and was 11 lbs 9 oz (yes, 1 lb smaller than Gavin was at birth...) and was 23 in. The Dr. said he has great head control and looks great. She prescribed me some cream for his yucky cradle cap that is not going away and that seems to be helping. We had to see a different Dr. becasue his pediatrition was out on maternity leave. The reason I mention that was because she looked at my funny when I started laughing that he was only in the 31st percentile for weight. She didn't know that Gavin was such a big baby and didn't even fall anywhere on the charts until 6 months. Max still seems so tiny to me (unless we are around Paisley!) and it's fun to hear people tell me that he's small rather than the previously hated statement, "That's not a baby, that's a linebacker!"

Max, however, is NOT a content baby. He has good days and bad days, but lately there seem to be more bad days. I feel bad because I know he is just uncomfortable, but sometimes there is honestly NOTHING to do for him. He has finally started liking his baths and that helps to settle him down at night which is a big relief, but he is reverting on his sleeping habits. We'll get this all figured out one of these days!

I don't know if this is a second child thing, or just me being crazy, but I feel like Max has gotten shorted a lot in life already. First, I couldn't have visitors at the hospital because of the stupid swine flu...and now they have revoked that and everyone gets visitors. Don't get me wrong, I wanted him to be healthy, but I really really really would have liked to have been able to have Gavin there. I don't have a family picture at the hospital of all of us, and it honestly kills me everytime I see someone post one now of their cute little family all together the day the baby was born. I think that just having such a bad experience with this hospital has made me feel a little more crazy about things too. I don't want to go in to detail about the bad experiences because I will just start to cry (ridiculous, huh? I still freak out everytime I have to go past the stupid hospital) but I just don't ever want Max to feel shorted in life. I know I should just shut up and be thankful for a happy baby, huh?

Here is my cute boy enjoying his bathtime!!!

Babies, Babies, Babies

Well, all of my immediate family sisters/sisters-in-law have finally had their babies. Brittani had sweet little Paisley Jean on Dec. 29th. That's one baby a month since September around here in both of my families! (And not a single one of them had a boy cousin for Max...RUDE!) I have been fortunate enough to get to practice my photography on 3 of those cuties! You've already seen Max, but I would like to introduce my two sweet nieces Alysen Michelle and Paisley Jean. I LOVE THEM! I love Brinley too, but I don't have a picture of her to share with you...just know she's cute (duh, she's related to my kids, of course she's cute!)

Christmas

We had a great Christmas with our family. Gavin was really excited about Santa this year. Actually, he was really excited for Comet to come :) It was the funniest thing...I don't know where that came from! We had our family Christmas that morning, went to Keith's parents for lunch, my dads to visit after that and then down to my mom's for her Christmas party. It was a big day, but Gav had so much fun and Max was very good. My camera died after the morning festivities and I never charged it so I'll have to steal some pictures from my mom from that night, but here is the fun we had opening presents Christmas morning....(you will also notice that someone has been playing with settings on my camera and it says 12/24/08...promise it was 12/25/09 but Max might wonder one day why his birthday was in 09 but she showed up in pictures from 08 :)

Blessing Day

It's official...I have become the world's worst blogger! Where's my trophy???

Yesterday was Max's blessing day. I didn't feel stressed or rushed (probably because we weren't hosting anything at home afterward since our families are way too big to congregate in my house...) and it probably helped that our ward now starts at 11 rather than 9. It was wonderful to have so many family members there to support us and we have so many wonderful friends in the ward. Keith did a great job and Max didn't scream, so even better :)I'm very thankful for a husband who can bless my children and to know that I have a priesthood holder in my home who can give us blessings whenever they are needed. I hope my boys know that they sure got a great dad. I guess when I am feeling like I haven't done anything right I should remember that I did at least one good thing in life by marrying Keith :) He takes such good care of us. Here are a couple pictures. The last one clearly shows that Max was tuckered out after his big day...I set him down while I was right there laying out a blanket to wrap him up in and looked up from the floor and he was out!
